S4/C final analogue closedown 2010

March 31, 2010

S4/C closed their analogue transmissions at around the same time as everyone else in Wales.  S4/C decided to mark the occasion with a special video.

So, it’s goodbye to analogue TV in Wales.

BBC1 Wales analogue switch-off 2010

March 31, 2010

Wales has become the first nation in the UK to have entirely switched off analogue TV.

BBC1 Wales and S4/C both marked the occasion, S4/C will be posted later.  But here’s how BBC1 Wales closed on analogue for the very last time.

I expect to see other similar closedowns in the future.  Where I am, we have already gone all digital and there was nothing special when it happened, so it’s nice to see this happening as part of television history.

RTE2 Closedown 1985

February 16, 2010

It’s been a while since I’ve been here in Ident City.  Personal situations have not been favourable and it takes a long time to recover from personal tragedy.  But things are slowly coming together, and I actually feel like returning to a few old haunts.  And I have a nice long video for my first return to Ident City.

This is a closedown from RTE2, as it was known back then, in 1985.  Later in the 80s it became Network 2, then N2, before returning to RTE TWO.

In this video, you’ll see an old RTE News Headlines update from Don Cockburn, Night Light, a religious reflection commentary, and a look ahead to the following days programming.  This particular style seemed to be oft copied around the world.

Despite the long period of silence, we’re not closing down here at Ident City.
